Another year, another new hotel opening. But not just any hotel. This secret project from the owners of the delectable Babylonstoren in Cape Town, has been kept from public eyes throughout its creation. Opened in 019, this historic estate has been transformed into a hotel, restaurants and spa, set amongst beautifully designed gardens. There’s even a farm shop (which sits in rather nicely with its Bruton surroundings what with Hauser & Wirth being just around the corner). The majority of the bedrooms are in the original Georgian house but the Stables, Hayloft and Clock House house those with even more wow factor. Guests can access the spa which includes an indoor-outdoor pool, steam room, sauna and hammam and there are plenty of treatment rooms to soothe away those London aches and pains. You can also enjoy the rest of the estate, including croquet and badminton, both available on the private lawn. This has become THE destination when in Somerset.
