OVERVIEW
For the sheer size and diversity that Chile has to offer, there are few countries that can be compared with this majestic land that is full of adventure. From hiking through the ice fields in the Patagonian Lake District to exploring the driest desert in the world, Chile is a country full of contradictions and surprises; it’s the eighth largest wine producer in the world and yet it’s also home to the arid plateaus of the Atacama Desert with its lunar landscapes. You need 2-3 weeks though to do it justice. Fly into Santiago before heading up to Atacama where you’ll spend your days hiking, biking, sandboarding and soaking in hot springs. Then head south to the Colchagua valley with breath-taking scenery and magnificent vineyards before you move onto a private reserve overlooking Torres del Paine National Park where you can spot puma from your luxury lodge finishing in Chile’s Lake District, homeland of the Mapuche people where culture and history await.
Whether you want to get around by foot, car, horseback or even helicopter, the options are endless here. From white water rafting to off roading to wine tasting, Chile really does have it all.

Arguably one of the best (and coolest) hotels in the world, Vik Chile is located in Chile’s Millahue Valley. With just 29 rooms situated on a 13,000-acre winery, Vik Chile is marked by unprecedented art and design, exceptional wine offerings, a huge breadth of activities (horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, bird watching and guided stargazing) and incredible 5* service. You can head over to their winery for a private wine tasting or head out for a pre-prepared picnic on a guided trek. Although the infinity pool is enough reason to stay put.

Awasi Atacama is a luxurious mini village located within the town of historic San Pedro in the dusty Atacama Desert. Hidden behind an adobe wall, the hotel is one of those ‘you have to know it’s there’ hideaways. With only 12 adobe (mud brick) suites dotted around courtyards with fire pits and an open-air swimming pool that is best suited for cooling dips. A Relais & Chateaux boutique hotel, Awasi Atacama is the only property in Chile’s Atacama Desert where each room is given its own 4WD vehicle and personal guide. Choose to spend your days as you wish as you traverse through lunar landscapes looking out for desert foxes, flamingoes and the odd overly-zealous geyser.
