OMAN

 OVERVIEW

When asked for a holiday destination that covers all bases, we often find ourselves recommending Oman, which combines adventure and romance with white-sandy beaches and luxury hotels. And what with Oman’s dramatic scenery, even a short trip will engage all the senses, making it a trip to remember.

With direct flights from London to Muscat, you can be in sunnier climes in under 7 and a half hours.  British Airways also fly direct from London Heathrow. The slightly longer flight time is a small compromise when faced with year-round sunshine and and spectacular landscapes. Choose between a stylish beachside break at The Chedi in Muscat or head further afield to Muscandam to stay in the acclaimed Six Senses Zighy Bay; surrounded by ancient forts and hilltop villages.

Above all, Oman is famed for its scuba diving. Explore the bounteous coral reef from either hotel (Six Senses even has its very own dive centre). Similarly, you can explore the coast’s colourful marine life with snorkels. Furthermore, you can try to glimpse dolphins and whales, taking out a boat to skim the coastline. There are also kitesurfing schools on Muscat beach. Family-friendly activities and hotels with glorious scenery. What’s not to love?
