Known to be one of the best pubs in Wandsworth, the East Hill is everything a country pub should be with its leather interiors, eclectic furniture and hearty menu it’s quite the surprise to find it in a short hop from the Wandsworth roundabout. In fact, if you looked up the term ‘gastropub’ in the dictionary you’d probably find a picture of Geronimo Inns next to it and they are the team behind this reassuringly reliable collection. With public houses now stretching from Putney to Stratford they must realise they are onto something being able to roll out the same product in varying locations. A great one for when the parents are in town, this is a menu to please the mother-in-law. There must be at least three reasons why she’s got in the car at all but with a superb wine list, tuna tartare and pan fried squid on the menu and a sun terrace outside she should be suitably impressed. Once they’re gone you can move for a pint and chinwag on their leather sofas.
