The Bull at Ditchling

The Bull  at Ditchling is one to ditch the iPhone (sorry, we couldn’t resist) and settle into the leather sofa by the fire whiling away 48 hours in this foodie heaven. With all the charm of an old man’s boozer coupled with four charming, unpretentious rooms to rest your weary head (read: overfed and a little tipsy), the Bull seduces with local food such as tea smoked mallard breast, roast partridge with chestnuts and savoy cabbage and chicken and ham hock pies. Located in the South Downs National Park you can head to nearby Brighton to explore in the day or return to your own little haven. Decorated with Farrow & Ball, Egyptian cotton sheets and large flat screen TV’s they surely combine most of the ingredients you need to keep man and lady friend happy for at least 24 hours, rolling downstairs for occasional glasses of sauvignon by the fire before retreating to your bed (6 foot wide no less). With the tea facilities comes a little offering of home-made cookies from the kitchen. They really have thought of everything.
