The Wild Rabbit

Imagine Daylesford Organic doing overnight stays. Well they do. So pack your bags and head off to Lady Bamford’s vision of gastropub extraordinaire at The Wild Rabbit in the picture-perfect village of Kingham on the Oxford / Gloucestershire border. With just twelve bedrooms, The Wild Rabbit lends itself to the perfect weekend away; crisp, fresh linen, exposed brick walls and beautifully presented bathrooms all make for a perfect night’s sleep.

Children under three and furry legged friends stay for free so you can roll out of bed in the morning and into the surrounding countryside. Nearby Cotswold Wildlife Park’s 160 acres lends itself to a day of rambling walks or head to Cirencester with its open-air swimming pool in the summer months.

Well-placed pots show off an enviable eye for design, crusty homemade breads arrive from the traditional Josper oven and roaring log fires all add to the “When can I move in” vibe. But it’s the little touches that have us sold; dog beds available on request, garden rooms are perfect for family stays and a simple supper can be grabbed in the bar over a game of dominoes. With an artisan beer or two being served up in this 18th century inn, it’s all a bit of a masterstroke – catering for all but not scrimping on the detail.

Order in the pear bellini and watch the romance levels heighten – you might never take your slippers off.
