North Norfolk has ‘for all men’ on its label. Surely the main reason to head to The Gunton Arms is the menu all hulking great rumps of venison cooked over open fire. Grrr. The venison is on endless supply due to the inn’s location slap bang in the middle of a thousand acre deer park in North Norfolk which comes in handy. With the chef hailing from Mark Hix’s restaurants you know you’re in for some hearty dishes all sourced within an impressive radius close to the estate; Cromer crab, seafood, mussels and local venison means each dish is ingredient-led and delicious to eat.
Don’t expect super slick bedrooms but then, he won’t notice or care. We’ll request a nice bath for you to soak in post your eating / drinking marathon and you’re all set for a rustic weekend with buckets of charm.
