The Spencer Arms is found on the way to Barnes but you can take a walk and you can jolly well earn that lunch. Located on Putney Heath you’ll find big leather sofas, fantastic service and an excellent chef making it one of those hard-to-find ‘reliable’ London pubs delivering that elusive, bloody fantastic Sunday roast. If, like us, you’re never quite convinced it’ll be as good as your Mum’s, you could try monkfish and chorizo brochettes or slow roast belly of pork as an alternative. You’ll need to book well ahead if planning a Sunday lunch and be prepared for a fairly hefty dose of children and babies, but those South London children are pretty well-behaved on the whole and you can otherwise head out with your pint to a peaceful Putney Heath leaving the din behind.
