You might wonder why you recognise Stoke Park when you arrive up the tree-lined driveway. We can thank James Bond and Bridget Jones for that. Used as a location for both Goldfinger and Tomorrow Never Dies, it was also used as the iconic weekend retreat for Bridget Jones and her hapless boyfriend, Daniel Cleaver. Hopefully we can deliver a more promising weekend than poor old Bridget. Less rowing on the lake, more indulging in the spa.
This private sporting and leisure estate spans 300 acres and is close to both London, Heathrow and Windsor. It has over 50 bedrooms so is larger in size than many of its contemporaries that we typically deal with, but we like the accessibility here – both in terms of location and facilities.
Included in this is their Spa with private, indoor, heated swimming pool and treatment rooms and their world-famous 27 hole Championship Golf Course. They also boast four floodlit clay courts, three indoor carpet courts and six Wimbledon specification grass courts, perfect for any budding Murray.
It’s also ideal for the whole family. Bedrooms welcome little ones with activity packs, children’s menus are provided and there’s both a creche and babysitting available.
