Don your bib and prepare for a foodie excursion around some of Dorset’s seafood restaurants, namely Mark Hix’ Oyster and Fish House in Lyme Regis. HIX Townhouse is Mark’s first hotel venture, handily a short stroll from his famed fish restaurant cooking up shellfish soup and classic fish pies for their patrons. Once you’re laden down with all those extra calories and some mighty fine wine, you can then stumble to his wondrous seaside Townhouse, boasting just 8 rooms, all with terrific views across the Jurassic Coast.
The rooms are that lovely mixture of big, airy bedrooms teamed with some classic British eccentricity – expect rope work details, roll top baths and prized catches in their themed rooms (we love the Fishing room with its fishing rods or the Sailing Room with access to your own private terrace). Taking fantastic care of their guests, each room includes the holy grail of mornings (the Nespresso machine), also providing breakfast hampers filled with goodies (including even a gluten free option) thus avoiding unnecessary chatter with other guests in the morning. Instead, stay in bed and enjoy the peace and quiet and sea views. It really does make for the perfect weekend away.
