Balthazar

Balthazar has been a New York favourite for foodies and celebs since 1997. They’ve now introduced their chic all-day brasserie experience to the heart of Covent Garden. Forward planning is required; this isn’t a casual stop gap before the theatre unless you’ve booked weeks ahead. The service is exceptional and the French classics are all delivered with a little twist. The classics are done exceptionally well with steak tartare, escargots dripping with garlic butter and steak sandwiches the perfect lunchtime snacks for the carnivores among you. Rock oysters, macaroni cheese swimming in gruyère or duck shepherds pie spice up those dinner plans washed down with a Bond-inspired lemon peel ‘Vesper’ pairing Sipsmith gin, vodka and vermouth.

With the reintroduction of Matthew Williamson’s show-stopping afternoon tea (a steal at £25 per person) inspired by his Autumn/Winter 2015 collection, private dining areas for special events and an interior straight out of a film set it’s not to be missed.

J’adore.
