Conveniently located across from the buzzy Exmouth Market, The Wilmington is the perfect watering hole for the Clerkenwell foodie crowd. Open for brunch, lunch and dinner don’t be fooled by its roadside location. It may be a little noisy but outside space is a rarity in this neck of the woods and you’ll find a spacious, smart dining area inside which matches the delectable menu.
All the food is seasonal with the menu changing accordingly to feature only the freshest produce. Signature dishes include ‘Bun and Cheek’ (pan-fried braised ox cheek in a bun with rosemary chips) and cod & shrimp fishcakes with blackened corn but we were blown away by the starter bites; cod cheek fritters, deep-fried courgette flowers and steak tartare are all perfect to share over a few bottles of wine.
We go anywhere where the rosé is pale and well-priced, so a huge thumbs up for The Wilmington. Add on a superb cocktail list and local ales and you can see why it’s always buzzing.
