If you’re looking for a date that will add an extra twist then head to Shoreditch and the unique offering that is The Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town. Behind the scenes of this seemingly straightforward facade (a Smeg fridge door of The Breakfast Club no less), you’ll mention the password and be whisked downstairs to enjoy delicious cocktails in illicit surroundings.
The drinks menu is great fun with pear cardamom sidecars, Rosie (rosemary) and Gin and the winner of Rumfest 2012, King Yellowman’s Answer. A fine cacophony of Blackwell rum, roasted pineapple with cinnamon sticks, honey, espresso and fresh pear juice. No, we didn’t look at the food menu either.
Don’t forget to ask for ‘the Mayor’ on arrival otherwise you’re not getting in.
