Undoubtedly one of the prettiest pubs in the UK, the Lion Inn is a former 15th century coaching inn found in Winchcombe has been lovingly restored careful not to lose any of the quirky original features of the building they unearthed along the way. With only 7 bedrooms you’d better get booking but it’s the bar and restaurant we love so much about the place. With an emphasis on community, you’re encouraged to leave the comfort of your gorgeous room and enjoy the pub with the regular patrons downstairs.
Bedrooms are TV-free but they’re more than happy to bring up your tea and coffee requests with the papers. Of an evening, you can enjoy the locally-sourced menu that regularly changes with ingredients that are fresh and available that day. You won’t be disappointed by the high standards the Cotswold residents have set for themselves, what with white crab and wasabi and other such temptations on the menu.
The best bit? You can take the dogs for an extra £15 so we’d go and find the perfect fireside perch, get down a game of Scrabble or cards and book in for the week.
