Regularly cited as every great food critics favourite restaurant, Riva has some serious backing behind it. When you have AA Gill and Gordon Ramsey’s approval you know you’re onto a good thing. This Barnes local offers dreamy Italian food cooked exactly as intended, however don’t expect to find pizzas and pastas on the menu. Real Italians don’t eat that way. Oh, and there’s no website either. They can rely on reputation alone. Expect the chef Andrea (also the owner) to serve up the lightest, smoothest ravioli and one of the best Veal Milanese you can find this side of the Alfa Romeo isle. Perfect to take the parents to after a walk along the Thames Path and significantly kinder on the purse strings than lunch at the River Cafe.
