With a dreamy coastal outlook on the Cornish coastline you’d think that would be reason enough to battle the M4 and head to the Idle Rocks Hotel. But seeing as you can take the papers on the train and arrive with your sanity intact at Austell solves all travel stress.
Once there you’ll be seduced by the Cornish decor. The nautical elements that run throughout are not the biggest of revelations but the air is one of supreme sophistication amidst hugely friendly staff. With a plentiful breakfast awaiting you in the morning (they go to town with their breakfast menu), you can rest those weary heads under the crisp sheets with seashells overhead, safe in knowledge of a peaceful nights sleep.
We’d recommend paying extra for the sea views (some with French floor-to-ceiling doors with harbour views) or just head to their huge terrace overlooking the harbour, crack open a nice bottle of Sauvignon and decompress.
