A mere stone’s throw from London’s theatre district and ideally located for Mayfair and the nearby tourist attractions of Trafalgar Square, the Haymarket Hotel is a force to be reckoned with when combining both style and location. We were struck by the tranquil bedrooms considering your birds eye view on the corner of Haymarket and Suffolk Place but therein lies the charm of a Firmdale hotel. They emerge without fanfare from the ground up and hold their nerve amongst their competitors with their elegant charms. Subtle in design they are not but we challenge you to not be bowled over by the eclectic eccentricity that lies behind those doors.
Designed by hotelier Kit Kemp, the Firmdale hotels are known to be completely unique. No bedroom or library, bar or restaurant are the same in any of their properties, individually decorated with textured wallpapers and one-of-a-kind furniture picked up from antique fairs the world over. Each of the 50 bedrooms are equipped with all you’d expect from a 5* hotel; flat screen TV’s, sumptuous bathrooms and iPod docking stations feature as standard.
Head down for afternoon tea in the library or enjoy a cocktail or two in the Brumus Bar and Restaurant. But their crowning glory is their 55 foot swimming pool hidden away downstairs. Perfect for a morning dip, take advantage of this rare sight in a London hotel (swimming pools are hard to come by we’ll have you know), finishing off your R&R with a massage or facial in the adjoining treatment rooms in the Temple Spa. Now that’s what we call a weekend away.
