A unique country pub with a bohemian and arty vibe has opened in Oxfordshire. This new venture from Artist Residence offers gorgeous quirky rooms, scrumptious meals and contemporary art. The quintessentially English building is the platform for an eclectie, eccentric and imaginative renovation, with a warm welcome thrown in for good measure.
Two miles off the A40, Artist Residence Oxford is set in a 16th century farmhouse boasting a thatched roof, carved oak panelling and flagged stone floors. Expect neon furnishings sitting comfortably beside inglenook fireplaces, William Morris floral wallpapers and quirky sculptures atop the bar. Join locals for a pint at the bar, read the paper or play cards by the fire. On sunny days, you can enjoy lunch in the charming courtyard and garden. The food is as heart-warming as the dining room with local game and meats served with locally foraged herbs and local guest beers.
Bedrooms are designed to be a ‘home away from home’. Luxurious bed linen and fabulous bathtubs add to a sense of indulgence. The Farmhouse Suite is the one to go for on a special occasion; a huge copper bath sits at the end of your bedroom surrounded by antique furnishings. It’s also fabulously priced considering the level of luxury found here.
