We almost gave up when trying to locate the mysteriously elusive 108 Garage. Found in the less charming end of Portobello Road, this former garage encourages communal dining. In fact, it’s all very Hackney meets West London.
Set over three floors, Chris Deeney and Luca Longobardi opened 108 Garage in early 2017. Since then, it has received rave reviews, in particular for its tasting menu (5 courses for an affordable £35). The perfect excuse to try their eclectic range of dishes, including fallow deer, salt baked beetroot with smoked eel and veal sweet breads.
But it’s the combination of the fun, seasonal menu teamed with the smiling staff that makes a visit a necessity. They could have easily gone down the pretentious route but instead have delivered exciting food to the West London set. Perfection.
