The Zetter Townhouse

Arguably coming into its own in the winter months, the award-winning cocktail lounge at The Zetter Townhouse in trendy Clerkenwell offers up imaginative, bespoke cocktails in sumptuous surroundings reminding you of Aunt Mabel. Think over-sized leather armchairs and mis-matching furniture and you have the picture.

If due a hungover tête-à-tête we’d recommend their famed Bloody Mary featuring delectable horseradish vodka. But the cocktail list lends itself to any occasion with a nod to the local area’s distilling heritage and old herbal tinctures. Nettle tea features with Beefeater gin, sugar, lemon juice and soda and surprisingly gunpowder tincture makes its way into The Flintlock with burdock bitters. We’d also recommend ‘The Flower Seller’ which combines Beefeater gin, flower market aromatics, apple acid and soda.

Bowl food is the order of the day and the potted smoked mackerel with crisp breads, Lincolnshire pork pies and beetroot, ricotta and pomegranate dip will more than touch the sides. With acclaimed chef Bruno Loubet at the helm in the kitchen, drinks titan Tony Conigliario behind the cocktail menu and a gorgeous hotel upstairs, they have become a triple threat to other bars in the area. You might never leave the comfort of the gorgeous Zetter Townhouse. It’s one of our favourite secret spots.
