The Electric

The Electric is a classic Notting Hill institution setting itself apart as the ultimate in date venues. Whether you head to the Electric Cinema (where alcohol is refreshingly served with your popcorn) or stop in for drinks and dinner at the Electric Diner, either way, don’t expect to do much talking. This is the West London hotspot for late night drinks (the pisco sour isn’t on the menu but the barmen whip them up if you smile nicely) and reliably attractive clientele. Open until 1am from Thursday to Saturday – unheard of in the notoriously sleepy Notting Hill neighbourhood – so expect a raucous crowd supping their last espresso martinis before bedtime beckons.

For the cinema, cosy into one of their leather armchairs, order your meal and drinks and sit back to enjoy either a current or art house film. But the real action happens in restaurant.

Martinis are a must but with all these fine cocktails on offer it suits any West Londoner with a mission to drink. Those with space awareness issues should avoid. It’s a cosy up at the bar kind of atmosphere but it’s worth it. You might even rub up against a celebrity or two.
