Goode & Wright

Goode & Wright is not your typical Notting Hill eatery. Tucked away on the iconic Portobello Road, this quaint neighbourhood restaurant sums up all that’s right with London’s restaurant scene. With an eclectic team of talented chefs behind the scenes from Israel and Spain, the menu goes a little off piste; polenta with wild mushrooms and truffle, pork cheeks with apple, and grilled octopus all feature. Again, we see the sharing plate trend continuing but, seeing that no London meal can now go without the ‘What’s mine is yours’ philosophy, we’re getting quite used to trying a little bit of everything from the menu.

Open for brunch from 9AM at the weekends, this is a great little find to escape the crowds of a busy Saturday morning and wander into the peace and serenity of this neighbourhood bistro. Not only do they serve up the reliably safe avocado on toast and a variety of egg dishes, but they’ve also thrown in ‘placki’ potato pancakes (the wondrous combination of halloumi and mushrooms with a poached egg) and asparagus and feta frittata.

This is our chosen spot though for a romantic meal with your betrothed. With seamless service, a thought-provoking menu to get those taste buds going and surroundings that – with a little imagination – can place you in a tiny bistro in Paris, this is one local secret we’re happy to share.
