We could have got them home before the curfew but they said they were “more than happy to survive off Ocado orders for a fortnight back in the UK in order to spend one extra day out here!”

Apologies for the radio silence but....Finally!! The Foreign Office has this past week updated its global advisory against ‘all but essential’ travel, exempting destinations that no longer pose an unacceptably high risk for British travellers

A few of the destinations now open for British citizens include #Barbados, #Croatia, #France, #Iceland, #Ireland, #Italy, #Monaco, #Norway, #Spain, #Switzerland, #Thailand, #Turkey and #TurksandCaicos

This means that your travel insurance is valid when booking a trip, safe in the knowledge that you will be looked after should anything change before you go or when you’re away.

Of course, no travel is risk-free at the moment but we believe the last few months have shown how important it is to have an independent travel advisor when booking your trips, helping navigate these tricky waters at no extra cost

It is difficult to know what to say or write in these challenging times. My thoughts are with those affected. Friends and colleagues are also being severely impacted and my heart goes out to those who are fighting fires that we could never have predicted.

The travel industry is struggling but one thing those with upcoming trips can do is postpone your trip, rather than cancel it entirely.
Whilst many of us are following government advice and are at home with our families, we can take time to reflect on our global community and show support to the hotels and suppliers that we have been lucky enough to work with for over 15 years. This too shall pass and we will be able to visit these beautiful destinations once again with perhaps a fresh sense of perspective and wonder.

We understand that what guests need now is flexibility. Hotels and suppliers are changing their T&C’s to offer flexible cancellation conditions with no financial risk. This means many hotels are offering incredible deals for 2021 and it has been truly heartening to see my wonderful clients look to adventures ahead with me. Positivity is what will get us through.

One for the bucket list, the hidden paradise of Sumba is a ‘largely forgotten’ island, located an hour’s flight from Bali. Nihi Sumba’s 2.5km beach has become a playground for 17 Sandalwood horses who are said to be the soul of the island. Every morning, they plunge into the Indian Ocean with their team of Sumbani ‘guardian angels’. Guests are welcome to join the herd and swim with the horses before they return to their stables for the rest of the day. It’s a truly unique and magical island (and probably top of our travel-to-do experience wish list!). We would also recommend their ‘Spa Safari’ which is the ultimate spa experience! It involves a 90-minute trek to the peak for a day at their incredible spa. Couples’ can have unlimited spa treatments overlooking the ocean. You can also visit the Sumba Foundation to see how they provide local support and have enabled access to clean water and educational programmes for the local community

A rather belated Happy New Year from me to you!! Thank you to all my wonderful clients for continuing to entrust your precious holidays with me. I am so lucky to do what I do and help you travel to such beautiful places. This year, we helped plan spectacular trips to Uruguay, Australia, Japan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam to name but a few. This year, has got off to an exciting (and busy!) start, planning itineraries for Oman, South Africa, Rome, Dubai, Thailand, the Caribbean and US road trips with a focus on experience-rich, sustainable travel in 2020 🌎

My personal 2019 highlights: EPIC SWISS SKIING (staying at The Chedi Andermatt which has one of the best spas I’ve ever seen), the HEAVENLY COTSWOLDS at my favourite new UK hotel Thyme, a PUGLIAN ROAD TRIP (where I quickly realised what all the fuss was about - Masseria Trapana and Masseria Torre Coccaro are simply GLORIOUS), a refreshing recap of the gorgeous properties in MALLORCA including a stay at the newly built Finca Serena (an adult-only retreat close to Palma), a perfect jaunt to AMALFI staying at the ‘Pink Palace’ 💗Palazzo Avino💗, a weekend in MONTE CARLO and a week discovering CROATIA and MONTENEGRO (yup, you guessed it = beautiful!). I have some exciting adventures planned for 2020 and it’s off to AMSTERDAM for me again (which captured my heart when I visited a few months ago)

Our new favourite European getaway - the Dutch capital of Amsterdam - exceeds all expectations. It has everything you might need for the perfect ‘weekend minibreak’. Rich in history, hop on a bike and explore the canals and cobbled streets to your hearts content

The buildings are extraordinary; some lean like the Tower of Pisa (being balanced on stilts over water after all) and are only still standing due to clever engineers with nerves of steel who swim underneath the city to reinforce them

From the excellent Van Gogh and Banksy exhibitions in ‘Museum Park’, a visit to Anne Frank’s House and the plethora of exceptional bars and restaurants here, we discovered that the options are endless. Even a tour of the Red Light District is worthwhile. The maritime history of Amsterdam is fascinating and the women are incredibly well protected by the city (although having the right tour guide and visiting at the right time of day is important)

Good morning Dubrovnik! 🇭🇷☀️ Another magical place to explore for a few days ~ one of the world’s most spectacular walled cities, the UNESCO-protected Old Town boasts endless Baroque churches, glitzy seafood restaurants (we had one of the best prawn dishes we’ve ever tasted) and Game of Thrones photo ops. You can also head further afield for a day trip to the nearby island of #Lokrum. Its surviving monastery and botanical gardens are worth a visit but it also serves as a welcome escape from the crowds on the mainland. Pack a picnic and sunbathe in peace for a few hours. You just need to bat away the bunny rabbits and peacocks that roam the island as it’s a protected nature preserve. It is best to visit Dubrovnik ‘out of season’ though (the cruise ships really are something else in the height of summer). We are here in mid-late October and relishing 31 degree temperatures and minimal crowds. We can wholeheartedly recommend it!

What an incredibly special place. With easy direct flights to Tivat, Podgorica or Montenegro from the UK, travelling here has never been so easy. Crystal clear waters, beach clubs, UNESCO protected medieval villages, five National Parks, a super yacht marina, sailing regattas and oyster farms means there are endless corners of the country to discover. With a huge investment of wealth to the area in recent years, the hope is to turn it into the new riviera. AMAN and The Chedi already have hotels here and there is the much anticipated opening of the first European One&Only here in 2020. We stayed at the Regent Porto Montenegro and it was fabulous.
