You’ve got through the winter and you’re looking to escape for a change of scene after a dreary few months. There are countless destinations that lend themselves to a springtime getaway. Japan was recently voted the best country to visit in the world. With diverse landscapes, iconic cities and awe-inspiring festivals, an itinerary around Japan can offer something for everyone (even skiing if that’s your thing). Bear in mind that Japan’s busiest times are their cherry blossom season (March through May) and Golden Week (29 April – 5 May) where four national holidays fall within seven days so it’s advisable to avoid visiting this week in particular as tour guides and accommodation are booked out well in advance. But once Golden Week is out of the way, the weather warms up mid-May and you can explore the beauty of a country that seamlessly blends Michelin-starred dining with cultural highlights and incredible locations.
The best time to visit Mauritius is between April and June however it really lends itself to all-year-round travel due to its enviable subtropical climate. You can expect to see some rain any time of the year but overall, you are more likely to encounter warm sun and blue skies (and the odd rain shower only is ever a welcomed addition as it brings the scorching heat down for the day). You will also likely find better rates for accommodation and more offers at this time of year (the December to March visitors not only face the higher festive rates but are also there in their rainy season) so our spring / summer is the perfect time to visit. A favourite with the golfers or those looking for better value for money than the Caribbean, Mauritius is one of our top picks for a luxury tropical getaway.
Morocco is always a good idea and Spring is one of the best times of year to visit with warm temperatures up to 28C, nights starting to warm up and gardens beginning to bloom. March, April and May are perfect for lazing by the pool or exploring the souks in the day, unlike the scorching temperatures of the summer months. It also means the Atlas Mountains are warmer too so long day hikes are achievable and you avoid the cold, chilly evenings that the winter months bring in the mountains. Ramadan runs from the end of February to the end of March in 2025 so that is also worth bearing in mind although it shouldn’t really affect your visit as a tourist.
There’s never really a ‘bad’ time to visit Canada. We spent many years there heli-skiing visiting both in winter and summer months and the landscape there never ceases to amaze. The majority of you will be wanting to see the Rockies either by car or train (the famous Rocky Mountaineer traverses the country from east to west on a 12-night tour) and this mountain range also delivers varying weather systems as you travel through. You can expect balmy weather perfect for hikes and snow-capped mountains from April onwards and mid-May brings western Canada’s summer season so our springtime is a brilliant time of year to visit and indulge in vast mountain ranges, ice-blue lakes and incredible wildlife everywhere you turn.
