Calcot Manor has it all. With an envious Cotswold location, a glamorous spa complete with a whopping indoor pool and family-friendly activities, it’s one of our favourite destinations for a weekend for all the family. Suitable for children of all ages, there’s an all-day crèche to pop the kids in whilst you visit the spa or use the hotel bicycles to get out and about with the other half to catch up on some alone time.
The bedrooms are of the highest luxury. This converted 14th century farmhouse shines through in all its glory with many of the rooms located around the stone courtyard with stunning views of the grounds. Inside, fluffy robes, free-standing bathtubs and sumptuous baths await (romance can be rediscovered in the adult only bedrooms in the main house – the family friendly rooms are set around the grounds so everyone can enjoy their own version of peace).
Joyously all rates include breakfast and use of the spa and the £30 per child supplement includes daily breakfast, high tea from the children’s menu in the Gumstool Inn and use of the Playzone. We can’t bear those hotels that charge the earth, only to discover that their rates are on a room only basis. Our verdict? If those hoteliers feel the need to charge over £200 per night there better be breakfast thrown in to keep us happy. Otherwise it’s a swift way to leave your customers unhappy on checkout.
