Cafe Murano

Angela Hartnett has done it again with Café Murano. Spectacularly simple, the Italian-inspired menu takes you back to long lunches in Siena where deadlines are forgotten and red wine always wins the day. Angela’s third London venture, her Michelin-starred status brings hungry diners flocking to her restaurants for no-fuss food, having sourced the freshest ingredients which only the most confident chefs cook with such simplicity.

Expect relaxed surroundings despite the fancy cooking. Separated out to a classic Italian format – cichetti, antipasti, primi and secondi – we can work our way through an asparagus starter with simple parmesan and a fried egg, a delicious Portland crab risotto with a fennel gratin on the side. Boisterous mains for the man in your life keep him happy (the pork loin with spring greens and pistachio comes highly recommended).

This will make your parents get on the train to come and see you time and time again. With outposts in St James’s and now Covent Garden, it’s great for a pre-theatre meal. Especially if you remind Mum of the octopus, chickpea and pesto number. Just be sure to save us a seat at the bar.
