The brainchild of Russell Norman, of ‘No Reservations’ and small plate fame brings laid-back, delicious food to Polpo Smithfield, Polpo’s East London outpost with handily speedy service a short walk from the City of London to break up a monotonous day in the office. The biggest challenge is in not ordering the whole menu but we recommend the spicy pork and fennel meatballs, spinach and parmesan pizzette with a soft egg on top and the baked mackerel fillets. Expect rustic decor (all the rage for the Smithfield location) and a warm welcome in the heart of Farringdon with plenty of buzzy bars to visit before and after your lunch or supper (we like to head there on a Friday lunchtime and never quite make it back to the office).
