We are delighted to welcome Pharmacy 2 Restaurant to the Lambeth area. The original Pharmacy was set up by PR guru Matthew Freud and the wacky, cow-pickling artist Damien Hirst. Perhaps not a match made in heaven when the Notting Hill restaurant disappeared into obscurity. This time round Hirst has teamed up with the restaurant stalwart that is Mark Hix. Pharmacy 2 Restaurant sits within Hirst’s Newport Street Gallery being as much a destination point for gallery dwellers as it is for foodies surrounded by the iconic pieces that made Hirst’s name whilst working your way through a trusty and hearty menu from Hix.
They’re open for a rather phenomenal brunch service from 10AM (Masala omelettes. Belgian waffles with rhubarb or the lovable combination of avocado on toast with chilli and added crab) but the reliably excellent food that comes out of Mark Hix’s kitchens mean supper is a must. Succulent Launceston lamb pie is more than generous with the buttery heap of pastry and rich lamb within, Portland crab and chilli linguine is light and fresh and the Swainson House Farm duck curry with apple pakora will delight any curry fan.
