The team behind Fulham’s finest, The Sands End and The Brown Cow, have lovingly restored The Cross Keys (a former ‘collars up, pints in’ kind of establishment) to a gastronomic haven, introducing their famed scotch eggs to the residents of Chelsea. If only we had a pub like this on our doorstep. The menu is hearty but throws in the lighter bite for those whippet-thin Chelsea ladies to snack on; fish cakes with fennel and samphire, gazpacho or scallop ceviche with pickled cucumber and horseradish are all starter options with reliable favourite foie gras terrine for the chap in your life. Portion sizes mean a main will more than suffice though and we were drawn straight to the tempura lobster burger (unsurprisingly sensational).
This is the perfect retreat for the winter months. Cosy seating, a hustle and bustle atmosphere and excellent service. Oh, and that lobster burger…
