Blakes Hotel

With its enviable Chelsea location, design-led interiors and the Matthew Williamson courtyard garden out the back, it’s no wonder that the re-designed Blakes has returned with top form to the London hotel scene. This 5* hotel has been lovingly updated whilst maintaining the feel of Bond girl Hempel’s exotic Far-East influences throughout which created quite the stir when the hotel opened in 1971 and was heralded as one of London’s first ’boutique hotels’.

The rooms are elegant and romantic – individually decorated, the bedrooms are generous in size with the most recently refurbished Signature Suites being the star of the show. Luxuriously decadent, this is the perfect location for a long weekend or a special occasion. The newly opened Blakes restaurant on the ground floor is now the place to be. Having been moved from the basement, the light-filled rooms now compliment the darker surroundings, inspired by an old-fashioned steamer on the Bosphorus. The Blakes Below Bar is also a great after-dinner spot: open every Wednesday to Saturday from 7pm to midnight, you might spot a celebrity or two if you keep your eyes peeled.

Ideally suited for world travellers with a taste for luxury, Blakes Hotel has become a home away from home for many. With only 45 bedrooms, expect impeccable service – this is the kind of place where all the staff know your name within seconds. With Harrods, Hyde Park and the Kings Road all within reach, Blakes is the perfect romantic spot for that special weekend.
