Milk House

Set in the heart of a picturesque Kent village, The Milk House is everything a weekend retreat should be. The rooms are simple, clean and welcoming but the real party is downstairs in the pub. Roaring log fires help the setting of this former 16th century hall house come alive and the menu is a real treat with their produce all having a provenance of within a 20 mile radius of the Pub. Sustainable fish choices and free-range lamb, pork and chicken are abundant on their heart menu; pork chop with roasted pumpkin and a mulled cider jus is just one of their winter warming treats. With four beautiful rooms upstairs with views over orchard and a hearty breakfast thrown in with the room rate.

There’s loads of gorgeous walks in the surrounding area including nearby Sissinghurst Castle with its National Trust maintained gardens. But if historical sights aren’t your thing plenty of shopping to do in nearby Tunbridge Wells. The added bonus? They accept canine friends in the bar so for a cheek-warming London exodus, pack the wellies, the dog, your appetite and enjoy a delicious lunch before heading out to explore.
