Peg & Patriot

If they’re a little harder to impress (not every girl is wowed by a good view and a bucket-sized glass of Chardonnay) then head to the new offering from creators of the Whistling Shop. The menu at the Peg & Patriot is not for the faint-hearted but you can at least draw comfort from the hipster barmen who are worthy of a good ogle.

The menu is inspired by chefs and their dishes. We say that’s rather innovative in our book. From the Queen of Hearts playig card in The Fat Duck’s sweet shop goody bag (which has been turned into the ‘Jam Tart’ – shortbread distillate, raspberry syrup and caramelised white chocolate bourbon) to the comfort food as cooked by Jamie Oliver where they’ve created the ‘Sweet Potato’ which combines actual sweet potato rye with Angostura bitters and saline solution. This is a place to est the senses. You can tell a lot about someone by their cocktail choices so test your date and their limits. Nibbles are limited but perfectly formed. Think almonds, olives and fried corn kernels and you’ve pretty much figured out the whole menu.

But honestly, who cares about food when you have drinks like this on the go.
