Number Sixteen is surely one of the most luxurious ‘home away from home’ hotels in all the land situated on an enviably pretty square in the heart of London, Firmdale’s Number Sixteen has firmly ingrained itself as one of our favourite hotels when staying in London. What with the gorgeous summer garden that’s hidden out the back, this 41-bedroom hotel is a gem for both comfort and luxury all under one roof.
The rooms are beautiful with a capital B with sumptuous Kit Kemp designed bedrooms all individually styled and heavy on the fabrics. Firmdale are known for keeping a contemporary edge with flatscreen TV’s, striking headboards and Rik Rak toiletries in all of the bathrooms. In fact, this place feels more like a private members’ club or a home away from home (if you live in a very posh gaff already that is).
Arriving for breakfast in the garden or orangery in the morning is really what sets this hotel apart though, sitting amidst a tree-filled garden and working your way through the papers is not a bad way to start the day. The service is (of course) exceptional and it’s a firm favourite with our parents when in town.
