With the legacy of the one and only Simon Hopkinson behind them (he of ‘Roast Chicken and Other Stories’ fame), Bibendum Oyster Bar in Michelin House has kept diners and oyster fans happy for over 20 years. The oyster bar is the informal fun alternative to the posher restaurant serving up wondrous oysters aside the finest bottle of bubbles. The vibrant surroundings only add to the atmosphere. You can take a stroll around this fascinating building – once the British headquarters of the Michelin tyre company and brought by Sir Terence Conran in the 1980’s – peering over the Crustacea Stall to check the beady eyes of your fishy friend before you devour it, before settling down to a stunning lunch in a refreshingly informal setting. Surprisingly they don’t take reservations so get there early if you’re expecting a weekend lunch.
