BABINGTON HOUSE, SOMERSET
Bab1Bab3

Set on 18 acres, this gorgeous 18th century country house hotel is the weekend retreat for those in the know. Created by the media trendies that are the Soho House group, expect celeb spots a-plenty and luxury with a capital L. We recommend staying in the Main House in one the large, bright bedrooms which are all unique and boast views of the grounds from your free-standing bath, with the treat of wandering downstairs for breakfast or just to take a book and curl up in the library, study or log room for the afternoon. Alongside their 45-seat cinema, tennis courts, cricket pitch, lake and walled garden it’s really all about the Cowshed spa featuring indoor and outdoor pools, steam, sauna and Technogym Fitness Studio and an all-day deli to keep those energy levels up. With a ban on mobile phones this is the ultimate weekend retreat.

BARNSLEY HOUSE, GLOUCESTERSHIRE
barns1barns2

One of our favourite Cotswold retreats, Barnsley House is a country house converted into a seriously luxe pad boasting a stylish and contemporary spa within this Grade II listed manor house. With 11 acres of grounds there’s stacks to do in nice weather (tennis courts are available, Cirencester Polo Club is nearby or you could try out clay pigeon shooting on the Chatcombe Estate), but otherwise the real draw here is the quiet and secluded spa; with an outdoor heated hydrotherapy pool, treatment rooms, herbaceous sauna, steam room and relaxation room the peace of the wooden beamed spa is a place we’d never want to leave. The Potage restaurant serves deliciously fresh and seasonal food (no children are allowed at breakfast or dinner to keep the peace) or you can wander down to the superb Village Pub in the village to mix things up. It really has thought of everything.

DORMY HOUSE, WORCESTERSHIRE
Dormy2Dormy

Welcome to what surely is one of the most inviting spas we ever did see. No wonder then Dormy House has recently bagged all the awards for pampering our ragged selves. With a recent £10 million refurbishment this 18th century farmhouse with views over the beautiful Cotswold valley this is our first port of call when in need of some serious R&R. With their heated infinity pool, lavender-infused sauna and mud room you’ll want to spend the majority of time in a robe. There’s stacks to do locally but seeing as the spa is so inviting, that we’d rather be left in peace in the “Bubble Bath” hydro pool followed by a magazine reading session in the Greenhouse. With some bubbles to drink. That’s just how we roll.
